Avaaz, Voice of the People, From Around the World

The Avaaz Organization is a powerful activist network that organizes groups on and offline to take action on issues like climate change, poverty, and corruption, to name a few issues. Thousands of individuals group together with a like idea to support change for the betterment of humanity.

Campaigning in 15 languages, on 6 continents, along with thousands of volunteers, they have petition signings, fund media campaigns, email supporters, lobby government and organize offline protests and events. They take all this action to ensure that the values and views of the people around the world are heard and Avaaz’s lacrosse camp.

Avaaz chooses its goals for the year through the polling of its members. Campaign ideas are tested each week. Ten thousand random samples are taken on each new campaign and only those that gain the major interest of the public are put into play. Within hours or just a couple of days, thousands of Avaaz members will have a campaign if full force of the public eye and learn more about Avaaz.

Emails start going out, protests are started and the media is alerted worldwide as to the agenda that the activist are calling attention to for action. The Avaaz staff listens to its members and then will give suggestion on how they can group together to carry out their campaign. They will fund ad campaigns, deliver petitions or do whatever is required to get the campaign going full steam ahead and Twitter.com.

A colossal public outcry can make all the difference to building a better world. No government or corporation can insist that the Avaaz supports their ideas or ways. Avaaz does not accept donations from governments or corporations. The values of the Avaaz campaigns are that we are all human beings, we have responsibilities to each and to the future generations as well as to the planet.
